Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington-Maryland Region and Scheer Partners Celebrity Gala Raises over $100,000 for New Germantown Gymnasium
Sports-Themed Gala Featured Former Redskin Charles Mann and WRC-NBC 4 Anchor and Sports Reporter Lindsay Czarniak as Emcees
SILVER SPRING, MD – The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington-Maryland Region (BGCGW) and Scheer Partners, a leading provider of commercial real estate services, announced that the benefit gala, “Dining with the Stars,” raised over $100,000 for the construction of a new gymnasium at the Germantown, Md. branch.
“We are pleased to have contributed our resources to help raise money for such an important organization,” said Robert Scheer, gala chair and president and founder of Scheer Partners. “The Boys & Girls Clubs play a vital role in the lives of the children of our community and this gala has helped make a new Germantown gymnasium a reality.”
The gala, held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Bethesda, featured area youth who are “Stars” in their own right, while highlighting local and national sports celebrities, many of whom are Boys & Girls Clubs alumni. The theme was designed to demonstrate the benefits of participating in sports and building a positive life.
The evening’s master of ceremonies was Charles Mann, a 12-year NFL veteran who led the Super Bowl XXII champion Washington Redskins. Lindsay Czarniak, sports reporter for WRC-TV News 4, joined Mr. Mann as emcee.
Other gala sponsors besides Scheer Partners included Lockheed Martin, Pepco, PNC, Potomac Ridge Behavioral Health System, HMSHost, Kalmi Construction, and Aetna. The evening’s festivities included a VIP reception, followed by a cocktail hour, with sports-related games, a silent auction, seated dinner, live auction, appearances by the Redskins Cheerleaders, presentations, and an awards ceremony. Marcus Johnson, acclaimed jazz pianist, was the featured entertainment.
